Yes, Robin, they are indeed video recording spectacles. Well not exactly spectacles in their truest form, but definitely glasses of some sort! And, yes, they do record video.
Incase you had any doubt about the advancement of technology, a startup called Pivothead has now really thrust the future upon us. Their video recording sunglasses are it.

The future is nigh…

So while the rest of the world uses “outdated” video cameras and other such devices (like your new smartphone!), Pivothead reckon that we’ll soon all need these video specs (that’s my name for them!) – why should we move over to them? Well here are some… uh, specs.

They have 4 element glass lens, 8GB of storage (onboard), an hour’s shooting time, and a Sony sensor that is apparently better than that in the iPhone 4S when it comes to HD images.

Pivothead (I really like their name!) are preparing for a release in April, so stay tuned for pricing. I’m guessing they’ll be pretty pricey – but probably cheaper than the Oakley ones that will invariably come out soon!

Dutch scientists are in the process of rescuing the environment, one burger patty at a time. “How are they doing this?” you ask, well they’ll be producing the meat in a lab, for starters, using stem cells to grow their own.
If this creeps you out, don’t be alone. Something about having your burger grown in a lab just doesn’t sound, well, Kosher. But with the immense cost of raising cattle, on both the environment and financially, it does kinda make sense. Raising cattle is takes a massive amount of water, food and energy – in total about 100 pounds of natural resources are needed to gain as little as 15 pounds of meat. The artificial meat is said to improve this by up to 35 percent.

Mark Post, Chairman of physiology at Maastricht University has started this experiment by turning stem cells from a herd of cattle into 1 inch long strips of muscle tissue, that when mashed together can create the perfect hamburger patty.

This research also has the full support of PETA (People of the Ethical Treatment of Animals) who are currently urging scientists to create stem cell chicken by the end of June 2012. The prize? One Million Dollars.

We just hope that this “Lab Grown Meat” tastes the same as the natural stuff that we’re used to, otherwise, well, we’ll just have to go back to rearing animals the good old fashioned way.

Over the past decade we’ve seen major advances in technology, just think of the growth and improvement in mobile communication devices. Ten years ago phones screens were all monochrome, the idea of having a camera onboard was preposterous, let alone being able to surf the internet properly. According to Matador Network, we’ll be seeing a lot of advancements that once were thought of to be crazy. Well, we know this, but it’s interesting, nonetheless.

Things that are expected to be revealed this year are:
Ultrabooks: The ultimate combination of a tablet and a laptop. Yes, super thin, super sleek, super fast laptops with flash-based hard drives are on their way. No moving parts make startups and load times super quick – exactly what you need from a laptop.

A Roll up laptop – have a look at this clip, read the comments and make your own mind up as to what you think about it. If it works out it could be super awesome, but yes, let’s hope it doesn’t cost more than a villa in Spain.

Microsoft is set to release Windows 8 this year. Some of the features include a windows store, designed to compete with Apple, I’m sure. Whether it’s as successful as the Apple version will have to be seen, but I suppose forcing people into using it will be one way of competing. The User Interface is apparently “mind-blowing”, but as you may tell from my cynical outlook, this too will have to be seen. I do hope that something is done to make it less resource intensive than Windows 7.

Toshiba No-Glasses 3D TV: Let’s hope that these TVs really are as good as the hype. I, for one, will be glad to see the back of those 3D glasses that one has to charge in order to use. Also, let’s hope this technology speeds up and makes it to the Big Screen soon, so we can see the back of those crappy glasses currently being used at cinemas.

Apple is set to release it’s next gen versions of both the iPad and iPhone. We can only hope that these are not just rebundled versions of the existing products. The iPhone5 has probably been the most anticipated phone never to be released. Let’s hope for a faster processor and especially, a new design. Hold thumbs!

Although it’s been out in the US for nearly two months already, Rocksmith, one of the most anticipated games of the year, is still not available in Europe, or Africa or Australia, for that matter. This is all because of a copyright issue brought on namely the UK Band called, wait for it… Rocksmith. They’ve been in negotiations with Ubisoft, the producers of the game and have still not come to an agreement. In fact they have gone as far as filing the issue with the European Union’s tradmark and copyright agency.
Ubisoft have been accused of using bully tactics to get away with not paying for the name and all the rest. I just wish they would hurry up and get this over and done with so a new generation of guitarists can be made to rid the world of the current spate of rubbish pop tunes that I blame on being created by Singstar. Really, just because you think you can sing, doesn’t mean you should!

The game is incredible. Not only can you play games like you’re used to on Guitar Hero and on your console, but you don’t have to rely on those crappy guitar controllers. You can use your own, real life, guitar. As long as you can plug it in, that is.

Check out the video below!

The scooter is fully electrical, can be folded down and as such is fully portable. The Moto Compo is tiny, at 3 feet long and 4 feet tall it’s designed to fit into Honda’s micro commuter concept vehicle.
It also features a removable battery which can be used to power electronic devices. The only question is, how does one recharge the battery once you’ve drained it to recharge your phone?
Also, whether or not this concept goes into production will also still have to be seen.

“The flexible display, we are looking to introduce sometime in 2012, hopefully the earlier part” Samsung spokesperson Robert Yi confirmed during the company’s financial results call, PC World reports and further stating
“the application probably will start from the handset side.”

Samsung have hinted at flexible screens for a while as it was first revealed in June 2011 that they would begin mass production of the OLED panels in 2012. The displays have been around as prototypes since 2010, as they have been showing them off in a variety of concepts that could benefit from the technology.

Here’s what you could expect to see in the next couple of months.
